Wood Acres Elementary school in Bethesda Maryland recently hosted its biennial International Night. Front and centre in the Australia Room was WJAFC Vice President and Eagles player Matt Byrne and his family.
In addition to Vegemite and Mintie tasting there was boomerang decorating, koala mask making and of course footy!!
WJAFC President Chris Adams supplied the handball target and it proved to be a big hit! Dozens of kids and adults lined up to learn some footy skills.
“We’ve had 9 or 10 kids from Bethesda come along to the each of the last two SMF events” said Matt Byrne “so I am hoping that this recent experience will bring a few more players out to this summer’s SMF program.” Could this be the start of a new team: the Bethesda Bombers maybe? If you would like to spread the word about junior footy at your elementary, middle or high school please contact the WJAFC. Flyers advertising this summer’s free program are available for posting on your schools site, neighborhood list serve or community notice boards.
